Fall’s Designer Fashion Shows Add Style To Reality Television

The scope of reality television covers topics ranging from coupledom to crime, and in between these contrasts of love and war await an array of programs dedicated to the world of popular fashion. Every year, hopefuls intent on creating the next line of popular designer handbags or models vying for the chance to promote the latest trends by top designers Chanel or Gucci find a home on reality television. Today, Rodeo Drive Resale, online retailer of fashion designers Louis Vuitton, Hermes and more, takes a look at three shows packed with personality and luxury style.

1)    Class Is In Session: On August 24, former Fendi and Yves Saint Laurent model Tyra Banks will premiere the 19th season of the popular series, America's Next Top Model. The show, in which women compete for a chance at entering the modeling industry, is getting a fresh spin, as America's Next Top Model: College Edition will feature participants who have enrolled or completed some form of advanced education. In addition, the show will be more interactive, as fans of the show will be able to vote on their favorite model through social media.

2)    Get Ready To Rock: Across the pond, Styled to Rock hits UK television later this month. The 10-part series, executive-produced by pop star Rihanna, chronicles a group of young British designers competing for a chance to create a stage outfit for 24-year-old singer. "I've always loved fashion," Rihanna confessed in the show's debut trailer. "Fashion has helped shape me into the artist that I am today." The "Umbrella" singer will also offer nuggets of advice along the way, and will be joined on camera by Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts, British designer Henry Holland and stylist Lysa Cooper, who will serve as mentors to the 12 competitors.

3)    There's No Place Like Home: Returning to television on October 9 is House of Style, the popular fashion series which first premiered on MTV in 1989. During its 11-year run, the show highlighted notable designers such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Betsey Johnson as well as young stars that would go on to be major Hollywood players including Will Smith and Winona Ryder. Though the show has been gone for quite some time (it ended in 2000), it returned for a single episode in 2009, and MTV promises its 2012 reboot will offer viewers even more Style than its predecessor. "The idea of the new House of Style is that it runs on all of our platforms. MTV is a fully multi-media company. You'll see it on television, on the web, on our aps," said Dave Sirulnick from MTV. "Not a lot of people are looking to consume 20-minute television shows on their phones. At least not yet. We want to make it really accessible for our audiences. Pieces will get windowed on to television, with the notion of the ability to a longer form programming style. The documentary is a long form piece."

As Top Model unveils its latest season, Rihanna lends her talents to the small screen, and MTV revives one of its mor fashion jackets e popular shows among fashion lovers, fans of reality television should rest assured that, no matter which program they choose, they will be watching in style.

Alo M1004 Men’s Short-Sleeve Colorblock T-Shirt - 15% Discount - No Minimum

Alo M1004 Men's 4.3 oz. Short-Sleeve Colorblock T-Shirt, regularly priced at $24.82 is now on sale for $21.09 with no minimum from 9/02/12 thru 9/09 at Crooked Brook.

The M1004 is made of 4.3 oz., 100% polyester birdseye knit jacquard with contrast insets at raglan sleeve seams for mobility. This T-shirt has cover stitching along armhole seams, double needle stitching throughout and a self-fabric collar.

The M1004 T-shirt wicks moisture away and an anti-microbial treatment that fights odor-causing bacteria. The Colorblock panels on the M1004 help to accentuate embellishments such as a printed or embroidered logo.

Polyester performance T-shirts help improve physical performance by supporting the body's natural temperature regulating mechanism. Unlike cotton T-shirts that trap moisture and become heavy and clingy, polyester performance T-shirts pull perspiration away from skin and transport it to the surface of the shirt, where it evaporates rapidly. They work great in hot weather, but they're also a great choice in cooler temperatures, since they won't become damp and chilly like cotton shirts can.

Sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL
Colors: White/Grey/Slate, Black/White/Grey, Grey/White/Slate, Leaf/Slate/Grey, Navy/Grey/Orange, Pacific/Grey/Navy, Red/Grey/Slate, Royal/Grey/Navy, Slate/Grey/White, Steel Blue/Navy/Grey

About T-Shirts

The t-shirt evolved from undergarments used in the 19th century, through cutting the one-piece "union suit" underwear into separate top and bottom garments, with the top long enough to tuck under the waistband of the bottoms. By the Great Depression, the t-shirt was often the default garment to be worn when doing farm or ranch chores, as well as other times when modesty called for a torso covering but conditions called for lightweight fabrics.

T-shirts, with and without buttons, were adopted by miners and stevedores during the late 19th century as a convenient covering for hot environments.

T-shirts, as a slip-on garment without buttons, originally became popular in the United States when they were issued by the U.S. women's jackets Navy during or following the Spanish American War. These were a crew-necked, short-sleeved, white cotton undershirt to be worn under a uniform. It became common for sailors and Marines in work parties, the early submarines, and tropical climates to remove their uniform "jacket", wearing (and soiling) only the undershirt.

Named the t-shirt due to the shape of the garment's outline, it soon became popular as a bottom layer of clothing for workers in various industries, including agriculture. The t-shirt was easily fitted, easily cleaned, were made in various colors and patterns and inexpensive, and for this reason it became the shirt of choice for young boys.

Basic t-shirts are staples in the promotional products industry and it is important that vendors understand their client's budget and needs right from the start. A vendor's presentation should always include at least three levels of basic T-shirts so customers can see and feel the differences. 50/50 t-shirts are a great value; their low price and durability from the blend of cotton and polyester make them a customer favorite. However, 100% cotton t-shirts offer the softness and comfort many customers want for their promotional pieces. When looking for a substantial and ultra soft t-shirt, 100% ringspun cotton t-shirts are the way to go.

Although the most popular method of printing t-shirts is screen printing, Crooked Brook t-shirts are printed using Direct To Garment Printing (DTG) which is the process of using inkjet printers to print an image directly onto t-shirts without the use of screens like with screen printing, which requires a lot of setup e.g., creating screens for each color. In addition, DTG printing uses eco-friendly, water soluble ink, unlike some screen printing methods that layer Plastisol (a suspension of PVC particles in a plasticizer) on top of the t-shirt. The only requirement for DTG printing is for the image to be high resolution, resulting in photograph quality printing with no setup fee or minimums for custom t-shirts.

Donald Carroll Named MVP Health Care Ultimate Game Changer

As part of MVP Health Care's fall brand campaign, MVP asked the community "Who Inspires You?" and received more than 150 nominations and 40,000 votes in our quest to find the Ultimate Game Changer. The contest—which was looking for people who make a significant difference in their communities by making them better, healthier places to live—concluded with an event on Saturday, November 10, honoring the top ten finalists and naming the Ultimate Game Changer.

Donald Carroll of Batavia, NY is the grand prize winner in the Ultimate Game Changer contest. Don, who is battling inoperable cancer of the stomach and esophagus, was not able to travel to Clifton Park for the event, but was there in spirit.

Don, who was orphaned at the age of five, said that the kindness of family, friends and strangers deeply moved him as a child and young adult, motivating him to "pay it forward" by sending local kids to summer camp, raising money to buy underprivileged kids toys and clothing at Christmas and funding college scholarships at Genesee Community College.

"I strongly believe all of us become who we are because of life experiences and the way we react to those experiences," Don said in a statement read by a friend at the event. "We can pick up the ball and run with it, or we can fumble our way through life. I chose to run."

Don and his former sixth grade teacher, Jerry Foster, who nominated him, have each won $1,000. Jerry plans to donate his prize money to the cancer support fund established to help Don with his medical and other financial obligations.

"I nominated Don because I've had the opportunity to see him grow from a quiet, shy sixth grader to a humble, compassionate man," said Jerry, who taught Don at Oakfield-Alabama Central School in Oakfield, NY. "I know of no one who believes more in 'paying it forward' than Don. I have always believed in Santa. His nickname is Don."

"All of the game changer finalists are examples of the kinds of everyday heroes MVP wanted to celebrate," said Denise Gonick, MVP's President of Operations. "Don's story, especially, is wonderfully inspiring. Despite all the hardship in his life and, now, his illness, Don has never stopped giving back and paying it forward. It's a reminder that wherever you are, whoever you are, you can make a difference."

At the awards dinner, MVP also celebrated the winner of its employee game changer contest, Laura Robinson, a team leader in MVP's Customer Care Center in Schenectady. The company's internal contest recognized employees who embrace working as team, go above and beyond to deliver excellence, make a difference in other employees' day-to-day lives and inspire others through their roles at MVP. Laura won an iPad loaded with wellness apps.

The Ultimate Game Changer Contest invited kids age 13 and over and adults in New York and Vermont to nominate someone they felt is making a significant contribution to their local community.

"We loved the 'game changer' theme because it resonates so we women's coats ll with our Generation Go brand," Gonick said.

MVP's Generation Go is about helping kids and families get moving, eat better and have fun. Find out more about Generation Go and see photos from the Game Changer awards dinner on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/MVPGenerationGo.

The top 10 finalists in the Ultimate Game Changer contest were determined by online voting at http://www.MVPgamechanger.com and the winner was chosen by a panel of distinguished judges.

MVP would like to thank the judges:

  •     Sara Wiseman, Promotions Manager at Radio Disney;
  •     Jodie Fitz, healthy food blogger and creator of the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club;
  •     Todd Scheske, a pro cyclist, who started the MVP Health Care Elite Cycling team back in 2002;
  •     Joy Dubin Grossman of RunVermont;
  •     Gary Gait, lacrosse legend and coach of the Syracuse University's women's lacrosse team; and

Give Them a Hand: Preventing Workplace Hand Lacerations

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 250,000 serious hand, finger and wrist injuries occur in the private industry annually. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also estimates that approximately 111,000 workers with hand and finger injuries lose days away from work annually - second only to back strain and sprain.

Hand injuries are no light matter, especially in industries where hand tools play a predominant role in the day-to-day operations of a business. In fact, OSHA statistics indicate that more than 10 percent of all on-the-job injuries involve the use or misuse of hand tools. While hand tools are common, many workers do not appreciate the possibility of injury when using them.

Researchers at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety, in collaboration with colleagues at the Harvard School of Public Health, conducted a study of occupational acute hand injuries. The risk of a hand injury was significantly elevated when working with equipment, tools, or work pieces not performing as expected, when using a different work method to do a task, doing an unusual task, being distracted, and/or rushed.

When addressing the task of reducing the risk of lacerations, employers should consider two elements: the tools and the person using the tool. While the use of tools, such as box cutters or utility knives, can and does heighten the risk of injury in the workplace, it's most often the worker's behavior that contributes to the injury. Nothing can replace solid training with hand tools to help prevent future injuries, as well as an attitude of vigilance when enforcing workplace safety.

To begin, employers and managers should ensure that the workplace environment has been made as safe as possible. Equipment and products should be inspected for sharp hazards on a regular basis. Managers should also eliminate, pad, or guard edges and surfaces that present a risk to employees. Above all, good housekeeping and organization should be maintained at all times.

When it comes to tools, employers and managers should also do their homework when it comes to providing hand tools to their employees. Workers should be provided with a variety of hand tools of which they can try out. After a trial period, employers can get feedback on which tools operate the best and those that were not as useful. Employers can then make informed choices on which tools will be most functional in the workplace.

It's also important for employers to consider what personal protective equipment (PPE) will be most suitable for workers. For instance, managers should provide employees with suitable sheaths or belts for those workers who need to move around carrying knives. Additional PPE for those working with knives include footwear, gloves, gauntlets, and aprons.

The third piece of the puzzle to a safe workplace is the employee. Worker behavior, training and understanding of hand tool safety is imperative to reducing incidences of injury. Firstly, it should be clear to workers which knives are the proper choice for cutting operations. Additionally, all employees should receive at least basic training on the correct way to use, carry, store, clean and maintain a safety knife. Knives should be kept sharp and regularly inspected for damage or wear. Above all, other implements should not be substituted for the use of a hand knife, and safety knives must be maintained in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.

Safety Knife Tips:
Select the right tool for job. For tools equipped with a guard, ensure it is in place and working correctly
Choose tools that fit the hand and body and are comfortable to use. Discard broken tools. Use tools correctly - push knife away from body. Keep hands and/or other body parts away from the point of operation. Use a tool box or tool belt to carry tools and keep sharp or pointed edges away from body
Avoid using excessive force or awkward postures when cutting with a knife.

When accidents do unfortunately occur, responding to the injury in a timely manner is, of course, mandatory. But first, employers need to take a little inventory to ensure their first aid services are adequate and that the proper training has been provided. First aid training courses should include instruction in general and workplace hazard-specific knowledge and skills. OSHA suggests that when setting up first aid services within a company, it's a good idea to appoint a person who will be responsible for choosing the types and amounts of first aid supplies, and for maintaining those supplies. The first aid contact should ensure that first aid supplies are adequate, reflect the kinds of injuries that occur, and are stored in an area where they are available for emergency access.

When it comes to first aid treatment for hand lacerations, the person treating the injured employee must first protect themselves against infection through contact with the injured employee's bodily fluids. Any equipment, clothing or surfaces contaminated with blood must be cleaned by a person train women's coats ed in the proper cleaning and disposal methods per the company's bloodborne pathogen transmission prevention policy.

For treating minor cuts, the cut should be washed with mild soap and water. Direct pressure should be applied to stop any bleeding. Follow up with an antibacterial ointment to coat and protect the wound. Once the wound has stopped bleeding, cover it with a bandage that will not stick to the injury. Based on the severity of the wound, outside medical treatment may be required.

Employers concerned with providing their employees with the most effective cutting tools should seriously consider purchasing one of the many available styles of safety knives.

Chef Uniforms The Importance of Looking Professional

In today's modern world, getting a job as a cook may or may not be hard. Of course, that does depend on what type of job you would be interested in and what type of degrees the company is interested in. Whether you work in the neighborhood McDonalds or the state bank, you usually still have a uniform that you must wear. Take a chef's uniform for instance.

For example, when you go to a restaurant and see the chefs cooking they are usually wearing a pair of white pants with a white lab coat and one of those long white hats on their head. No, they do not wear uniforms just to look funny, but because it is a requirement! It is a time-honored tradition, and every chef wears his or her chef uniform with pride. After a chef gets the job at the restaurant that he had wished for, the first thing that is talked about is the uniform that he or she is required to wear. It is always white, and always prestigious.

Depending on where you are hired to work, the restaurant may supply your uniform for you or you might just have to buy it. One of the reasons that you might be given a uniform by the restaurant would be because it may be specially made for employees. It might have the restaurant name, sign and maybe even the motto. Another reason for the employer to furnish chefs uniform is to make sure that all the uniforms are the same. You can't go out somewhere and buy something like that. Usually the chef's uniform and the waitresses' uniform's will be similar in a way, but will have their differences.

If you are planning on being a chef, always make sure that your chef's uniform stays clean. It is very unsanitary if you washed your uniform every two weeks knowing that you are around food the whole day. If you are a chef and you come out of the kitchen to go use the restroom wearing a uniform that has Wednesday's mashed potatoes and gravy that someone ordered, you are not going to be driving people to the restaurant.

The same rule applies to wearing a chef's uniform that is stained. Customers have a certain image of a chef, and a stained and dirty chef uniform does not fit the picture. The only thing you will be driving them towards is their car so they can go as far away as possible from your restaurant. This is definitely going to be a problem, your restaurant will not get that much business and it might even possibly go out of business.

Your chef's uniform is not the only thing that you should make sure stays clean. The restaurant itself has a great impact on your business and amount of pleased customers you have. This is also another way to either have the ability to attract customers or bugs. Keep the restaurant clean for the customers and the employees.

A chef uniform was designed with a purpose. The jacket is double breasted, so it can be turned inside out if there too many stains are on it. The jacket itself is made out of a double layer of cotton so it can insulate the chefs' body against the incredible heat from the stove or from the spill or splatters that may occur throughout the day. The cloth covered knotted buttons can handle a lot of washes and the frequent bumps with the hot pots and handles and heavy equipment.

Even the pants to a chef's uniform have a purpose other than being completely unattractive. The pattern on the pants of chefs uniform is called hounds tooth. It is a tiny black and white square pattern and it is great for hiding stains of any kind.

In past kitchens of the past, a chef would wear a neckerchief to catch the sweat that would pour off of them in the sweltering kitchens. Today, they are worn for aesthetic reasons. They give a chef uniform a more finished look.

The traditional chefs hat is called a toque blanche. It is the most distinguishing feature about the chef uniform. Chefs uniforms were originally gray, and made of regular material.

They can be traced back to the eighteenth century. Chef Careme, a famous chef of the time, decided to redesign the uniforms of all chefs. He designed them in the color white, thinking that it denoted cleanliness. He made them double-breasted and made of cotton. All of these idea were his. The hat sizes were originally made according to the position of the kitchen help. The chefs wore the tall hats and the rest of the kitchen cooks wore the shorter hats. A true torque has one hundred folds in it and has been rumored that because chef Careme could cook eggs one hundred different ways.

The traditional chef's uniform is a standard women's coats online for the chefs' profession, but it is not a law. As far back as the mid 1980's, chefs have been wearing their own form of clothing. Some chefs frown on these new-style uniforms as non-professional. They are proud of their chef uniform, and have worked very hard to be able to wear it.

Years of hard work at the culinary academy and then years of back breaking work perfecting their art have earned them the right to be critical. It is more of a respect feeling that they have toward the uniform and all that it signifies to wear it. They feel that by changing the uniform, it is defiling it in some way.

A chef's uniform is a very special article of clothing. Some feel that those who change the design of their own uniforms are somehow dishonoring the memory of the chefs before them that had dedicated their lives to creating culinary masterpieces. The time tested chefs uniform will continue to be the standard dress for all chefs, but there will always be rebel in the mix.

How to Make Your Back to School The Greatest Season of All!

Despite the merriment we all experience at the beginning of the back to school season, there seems to be a rapid decline in our moods the moment the dreaded paperwork begins to appear in our houses. The countertops, dresser tops, table tops, and back seat of the car all seem to grow their very own pile of papers. All of those school supplies that were purchased at the beginning of the year have now made their way back into our homes in the form of school projects, art projects, mobiles, and dioramas. Not to mention that fact that all the teacher supplies we so generously donated to the school have also returned to our homes in the form of field trip slips, progress reports, graded homework, and report cards. Where does all this stuff go? How do we get back our houses?

Everything in its Place

In every home there seems to be a "junk hot spot" where everything not nailed down ends up. Backpacks, flip-flops, keys, hats, coats, and leftover lunches all seem to end up in the same spot in your kitchen. Why not make that "hot spot" the dump spot? Actually designating a place in your home where you and you kids throw their everyday things will actually help cut down on clutter elsewhere in your universe. Make sure that yo women's jackets u have set up specific bins for things to go into. Have a special hanging hook where you and your kids put your keys. Have a shoe rack where you and your kids can put your shoes. Have a coat rack where you can all put your coats. This doesn't just sound simple, it is simple.

School Supply Storage

With all the money you spent at the beginning of the school year, you aren't just going to let all your children's school supplies get lost in the mess that is your house? If your kids don't need them at school, you should set aside a place in your house where you can store school supplies when they are not in use. Buying baskets or storage bins and labeling them with the appropriate item, will help you sort and store all those special items for their special projects.

Inbox and Outbox

With all the paperwork going through your house it is probably very hard to keep track of important time sensitive documents. There is nothing as horrible as your child getting to go to his class swim party because you never got around to signing his permission slip. Designating a specific box or basket in the house as the "inbox" for all school related papers can drastically cut back on life shattering "mommy mistakes". Every night before you snuggle into your bed, go through the inbox and file, sign, toss, or display whatever needs it. If something needs to be signed and returned, sign it and put it right back into their backpacks to be returned the next day. If an important date needs to be remembered, write the date down on your family calendar and toss the paper. You can de-clutter your living space and still be on the ball with your kid's important school stuff.

Home Art Museum

All those school supplies and classroom supplies you purchased at the beginning of the year have made a triumphant return as a beautiful piece of art. Paper Mache snowmen, multi-colored paper chains, painstakingly drawn pictures of the family standing around a large pumpkin. When all those amazing pieces of imagination come flowing through your door, you will want to display them proudly for all to see. The fridge might not be big enough to hold so many wonderful works of art, so set aside a wall in the family room or kitchen where you can display with much pomp, your child's newest achievement. Let the artwork hang there until the next great masterpiece graces your abode, and switch them, leaving the new artwork hanging and putting the old away in a storage container for later.

With your schedule already super crammed, your shopping list already overflowing with school supply needs, and your brain exploding with important dates, being able to find space, peace, and order in your own home may just save your life.

Outdoor Furniture In Beautiful Wicker

Outdoor furniture is made in several different types of materials but the one of the most popular kinds is wicker furniture. Wicker was popular in England and America in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and it comes in ornate styles and very simple straight line styles. Most of what you find today are Victorian reproductions and most wicker furniture costs a bit, but with a little care it can last you for years.

Wicker furniture comes either painted in colors or in its natural shade with a varnish coating. Contrary to popular belief wicker furniture is very resilient and strong. It may need to be cleaned before taking it out in the spring because it can tend to attract mold from the year before. To clean mold mix one tablespoon bleach with one gallon of water and scrub with a toothbrush. Once the mold is removed be sure to rinse with a sponge and clear water and wipe with a dry cloth.

Not all wicker gets moldy so you will not have to clean it with bleach. If the furniture is just grimy after being stored for the winter just wash it down with a bucket of soapy water and a sponge. It isn't good to use a hose and squirt wicker furniture as this could damage and warp the wood underneath the woven wicker. It is also important not to sit on wicker furniture until it is completely dry. Getting the canes wet will make them stretch and if you put weight on them they will bend ways you don't want them to bend. You can also take a vacuum cleaner and clean the wicker with the vacuum brush if you want.

Wicker furniture should be kept out of direct sunlight because too much heat can dry out the wicker canes and they can become brittle. It also shouldn't be left outside without having a roof over top. Deluges of rain can damage the wood and warp the furniture. Wicker furniture should be stored indoors during the winter because excess moisture and extream cold with wind can also do damage. It is best to cover wicker with a tarp when storing for the winter to keep dirt out until you can bring it back out in the spring. Never store wicker near a heat source like a furnace. The heat will dry the wicker out.

Some wicker furniture is painted and this paint needs to be refreshed periodically. You can refresh painted wicker by cleaning it off well and letting it dry. Then gi women's coats ve it a few coats of spray paint in either the original color of you can change it up. Try to use a non-glossy finish on wicker and be sure to get in all the nooks and crannies. Make sure it is totally dry before sitting on it.

Do not try to strip wicker of any paint that is on it. This will dry it out and cause the canes to crack and break. It is just better to paint over it. It will look good as new with only a few imperfections. If you strip it you could have many imperfections that you may not be able to live with.

Even the natural wicker needs a little maintenance. Natural wicker should have varnish, shellac, or lacquer on it to protect it from the elements. This should be replenished on a regular basis as well. Use a spray finish and let it dry several days before sitting on the wicker furniture. If you desire you can apply a thin coat of liquid furniture wax to wicker furniture. This will give it a glossy finish and it will repel water for awhile.

If you see the wicker starting to unravel on the legs be sure to take it somewhere that specializes in wicker. This isn't something you can fix yourself. With a little care, maintenance, and prevention you can have your wicker furniture for many years. It can last for 20 years, or 50 years or much more if it is maintained correctly.

The decks and porches of your home are often forgotten or neglected. We forget what these spaces are for. We seem to lose the concept of unwinding and an outdoor area with new outdoor furniture can change all that. We set up grills and hold BBQ's but often forget that comfortable outdoor furniture can be for more than just entertaining.

We do not need to wait for a birthday or a special occasion to enjoy the outdoors. Sitting on the porch on new outdoor furniture can provide a great way to sit down with the neighbors and get caught up with what is going on with each other.

The Best Beans For Your Buck

Most of us are familiar with the 'bean song' which goes like this;

Beans, beans, they're good for your heart.
The more you eat, the more you fart.
The more you fart, the better you feel.
So let's eat beans for every meal!

I have no idea where the song originated, but whoever came up with it was actually on to something. Beans really are good for you!

Also known as legumes or pulses, they're basically just seeds from the pods of specific groups of plants. They're packed with protein and minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc and folic acid, have almost no fat, are a great source of complex carbohydrates (the 'good' carbs), and can aid in lowering cholesterol and prevention of heart disease. As an added bonus, they're relatively inexpensive.

A trip to your local health or bulk food store can be a real eye opener as to the types of beans available. I've listed my three favorites here;

Adzuki beans (also known as azuki or aduki. Grown in East Asia and the Himalyas, the adzuki bean is quickly gaining popularity, particularly in Japan where it is now the second most popular beans after soybeans. It's been dubbed the weight loss bean because of its high nutrient value and low calories. Just one cup of cooked adzuki beans contains less than 294 calories, less than 1/4g of fat, a whopping 16.8g of dietary fiber and 17g of protein.

Mung beans - They may be small but they pack a nutritional wallop. Mung beans are grown in hot, dry climates such as those found in China, India, Indonesia, southern Europe and southern USA. They're commonly used in Chinese cooking. The bean sprouts with your Chinese takeout are likely from mung beans. Rich in potassium, iron, thiamin and magnesium, mung beans are easily digested and have become popular as a 'detox' bean. One cup of cooked mung beans contains 190 calories, 1/2g of fat, 2.4g of fiber and 13.6g of protein.

Soy beans - Used in a variety of foods such as flour, dairy alternative drinks, and meat substitutes, soy beans are the USA's leading agricultural export. There has been controversy around the genetic modification of soybeans, so if you're concerned about this look for organic, non GM soy products. Containing no cholesterol, very little sodium and packed with dietary fiber, iron, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus, one cup of soy beans contains 298 calories, no fat, 10.3 g of dietary fiber and 28.6g of protein.

Other beans that are a staple in my pantry are red kidney beans, white kidney beans, chickpeas, black beans and white beans.

My favorite way to use beans is in a salad. Here's a recipe that is easy to make, easy on the budget, very tasty and very good for you.

3/8 cup dried beans, cooked (use a mixture of whatever beans you want. Put in pot, cover with water, let stand for an hour, bring to a boil, and simmer until tender)
1/2 cucumber, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 cup cooked whole wheat pasta (ie rotini, macaroni)
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
Fresh herbs to taste
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine cooked beans, cucumber, to fashion jackets online mato and pasta. Whisk vinegar, oil, mustard and seasonings together and pour over salad. Toss to coat.

Puggle - Beagle and Pug, Sweet and Trouble all Mixed Up in One!

One of the hottest trends on the market is the Puggle. It is a hybrid breed of a Beagle and a Pug. The Puggle has all of the best characteristics of each and the not so great characteristics.

Puggles do not have the howl of the Beagle, or the breathing problems of the Pug. However, they do have the high strung nature that will get them into trouble! Although their nature is "hyper", they are very sweet and lovable! Some people will have you think that they are calm. From my experience with Puggles and the research that I have done, I have found this is not the case!

The sad thing is that people either believe reports that these dogs are calm and serene or they just haven't done any research to know that these dogs need constant attention and love. And, it is a shock when they bring their Puggles home, and a women's coats re not prepared for this burst of energy that has just been added to their family.

Characteristics of a Puggle:

Puggles usually weigh about 15 to 20 pounds and will grow to be about 10 - 15 inches in height. They have short hair and come in a few different colors. These colors are: fawn, black, beige, silver or multicolored with these colors with a black mask. Their skin is loose and they have a wrinkly face. Plus, they have curly tails.

How to take care of your puggle:

They are very energetic, by nature, and love to play. They need constant attention, consistent discipline, and a lot of love. These cuddly pups need a lot of playtime from each member of the family. If you don't take sufficient care of you puggle, health issues can arise. Preventative health care is your best opportunity for a healthy puppy. Although dogs are not hard to take care of, you still have an obligation to learning what your Puggle's needs are to ensure a happy, healthy life.

Walking benefits you and your Puggle. If you can walk for at least 30 minutes a day with your Puggle, than you are both off to a great start to a healthy life. However, it is very important to be sure that you do not walk your Puggle in weather that is too hot because of their compact nose. They could over heat and have breathing troubles.

It is important not to over feed your Puggle. Most adult Puggles do not need much more than about a cup of dog food per day. Many people are actually changing the food they give their dogs to more natural food. You should refer to instructions on how much you give your dog for the amount of weight they are. I have done some research on dog food, and I would recommend that you do the same. A well balanced diet is important, and there are actually alternative, healthier ways to feed your dog than the traditional bag of dog food. If you notice your dog is becoming too thin or too plump, you should increase or decrease his food accordingly. The proper food will also improve his skin and coat.

Get your dog to the vet for regular check ups. This is the absolutely important thing you can do for your Puggle. There are many diseases your dog can contract, if you do not get him the tests and shots needed to avoid these diseases. Some of these diseases are simple to avoid, yet could prove to be the death of your dog, if not acknowledged. Plus, your vet offers nail trimming and cleaning of the ears and teeth to promote a healthy lifestyle.

With the right care and a lot of love, your Puggle will be your loyal companion for a very long time.

Things You Should Know When Adopting an Adult Dog

No matter how old the dog you're interested in adopting, you must do whatever you can to find out about him. You want to avoid an adult dog that has too many behavior problems, especially aggression. Here are few questions that you must consider asking:

What is the dog's background?

Many kinds of dogs are available for adoption. You may go to a shelter, the original owner of the dog, the original breeder of the dog, or just a nice person who found the dog on the street. If you find out that the dog is well-bred and the parents have a certificate to back it up, then go for it! Or, if you think the dog is healthy and friendly, fits your size, coat, and activity criteria, you might want to think a little bit further, though he might be the one you bring home tonight.

Look for any aggression signs. However, if you can't find out anything about the dog because he was found on the street, I suggest you a lot more homework than you would in previous conditions. You have to find out about the dog's health, activity level, aggression level, etc.

Why is the dog available for adoption?

Dogs become available for many reasons. The most common ones are "divorce" and "death." Usually the owner doesn't want to blame the dog for being let go. Another reason like "bit our neighbor" is when the owner clearly blames the dog, though I doubt someone would say that to you wh women's jackets en you are thinking about adopting.

Think about what is NOT said by the owner as well. If the owner says "we can't give him enough exercise," that could very well mean "nobody is able to keep up with him and he will chew furniture when he doesn't get enough exercise."

What behavior problems does this dog have? You might be surprised when I tell you many behavior problems are actually fixable. If the problems are like pulling on the leash, urinating the sofa, barking at night, jumping on people, won't stay in the yard, digging the lawn; these are all fixable behavior problems. Assuming, of course, you will take the time to work with the dog.

If, however, the behavior problem deals with aggression, then it really takes hard work to fix it. Most average dog owners are not able to fix this and you shouldn't take a chance on trying.

How is the dog with children, other dogs, cats?

Even if you don't have kids, other dogs, or cats, you are going to run into them from time to time. You MUST find out the dog's behavior towards kids, other dogs, and other animals. What's better, he has to fit well with your family members.

Shelters ask previous owner to fill in a card and tell about problems with children and other animals. If you are adopting from other people, ask if they have children or other pets in their house. If you don't have access to this information but the dog looks friendly, then he might be okay. However, if you have doubts, it's better for you to wait for the dog that really fits your family's life.

What if your relation doesn't work out?

You need to know beforehand what options you have if you and your new adopted dog are not meant to be together. What are the time frame that you could bring him back? Is the adoption fees (if any) refundable? Can you choose another dog?

If possible, arrange a meeting with your family and the dog you are about to adopt. See if it works out well. Some dogs might do well with men, but not so well with women, and vice versa. If you don't have a family, ask a friend's favor. All of these information will help you find the perfect adoption dog for you and your family

The key is to work on one section of the mouth at a time, correcting the area and moving on to the next until all the lines are connected.

If making corrections keep in mind what kind of lip cover you will be using. you can also make you lips appear thicker or thinner based on the type of lip color that you use, a matte look will make your lips appear thinner while a glossy lipstick will make them look fuller. American Eskimo Dog Breed And Some Interesting Tips And Info

Of all the dog breeds one of the fluffiest and cutest is the American Eskimo puppy. It is from the Spitz family and considered a Nordic breed. When brought to America its name was changed to the American Eskimo dog. It was originally related to the white German Spitz. They originally changed the name because after World War I there were widespread anti-German sentiments. They are now considered to be two separate breeds but the two a very closely related.

Evidence shows that the 'White Spitz' was also brought to America by German immigrants. The studbook was closed by the North American Eskimo dog Association in 1969. To gain acceptance into the AKC, The American Eskimo Dog Club of America was formed in 1985.

On July 1, 1995 the American Eskimo dog was accepted in to the AKC in the Non-Sporting Group. There are three sizes of the breed, the standard, miniature, and of course, the toy. The standard size will reach a height of 15 to 19 inches, and will weigh between 18 and 35 pounds. A miniature will be 12-15 inches tall and weigh 10-20 pounds. A toy dog will be 9-12 inches high and weigh six to ten pounds.

Being a small to medium size dog the American Eskimo dog is a well-balanced, compact Nordic type dog. When it walks or run you will see a smooth gait. The dog is also very alert. There are very distinctive black points on the dogs face. They are around the eye rims, lips and on the nose. The ears also have the black points and are triangular shaped and stand erect.

The coat is two fold. The under coat consist of short dense hair. The outer coat grows through the undercoat with long guard hair. This gives the dog a double coat. The hair should lay flat with no waves or curls. Around the neck and chest the coat is much thicker and forms a ruff similar to a loins. This trait is more pronounced on a male than on the females. The breech look, which is characteristic of the breed, is formed around the back legs to the hocks and is covered in very thick hair also. The tail is loosely carried on its back and is very plum. The color of the American Eskimo dog should be pure white, though white and biscuit cream is also allowed.

As a puppy the American Eskimo is a little on the conservative side but is generally friendly. They are very intelligent and highly ale women's coats rt. If being shown they can be penalized for either aggressive behavior or being overly shy. If you want a watchdog this is a good breed, due to its alertness they will bark when someone is approaching. They do not general threaten to bite or attack people, but they are protective of their area and family. It is quick and eager to learn new tricks.

Though this breed is generally healthy there are a few things it is susceptible to. Owners should pay close attention to any changes in the tear ducts or eyes. Progressive retinal astrophy and hip displaysia also run in this breed. To avoid dermatitis keep the coat free of fleas and clean.

This dog is very active and is best suited for living in an area with a yard where it can run and play. It can become overweight very easily so regular exercise is a must. It would be okay in an apartment as long as you had a place to exercise them. You should brush the dog at least twice a week. Remember it has a thick coat so you will need a comb or brush with bristles that are firm. The breed is not really a heavy shedder, but when it does shed its coat increase the brushing frequency to daily. Wash only when needed.
